A WOMAN IN NEED OF A MAN TO SAVE HER FROM HERSELF
In an incredibly revealing interview with Parade magazine, Berry claimed that she tried to use exhaust fumes to take her own life, but thanks to a powerful vision, stopped at the last minute. "I was sitting in my car, and I knew the gas was coming, when I had an image of my mother finding me," Berry said. "She sacrificed so much for her children, and to end my life would be an incredibly selfish thing to do. It was all about a relationship. My sense of worth was so low. I promised myself I would never be a coward again."
During the interview, Berry also admitted that she underwent sex therapy with ex-husband #2 Eric Benet, an experience that she wishes she never had. "I was putting everyone's needs before mine." She kicked Benet to the curb in 2005.
Now, however, Halle's focus is clear -- the Oscar winner, who's currently dating 31-year-old model Gabriel Aubry, says she wants to be a mom, telling the magazine, "my sights are set on a different chapter of my life, which is motherhood. That's the goal I have very clearly set for myself.
Yeah. Now she wants to be a mom. That's what she wanted years ago but she chose to chase external affirmation like "Oscars". So what's her answer? She's "dating" a male model 10 years younger than she is ...
Lord ha' mercy. I'm arranging my daughter's marriage.

She's had two men to save her from herself and they were painfully incompetent.
That Halle Berry is lost does not mean that you need to arrange your daughter's marriage. Indeed, if your daughter does not learn the maturity and wisdom necessary to choose a proper mate, it means that your parenting failed miserably along the way.

2? Try 20. From Christopher Williams to David Justice to Eddie Murphy to Eric Benet to Shemar Moore (I'm trying not to laugh at that one) to Michael Early to this '31 year old Male Model', the list goes on.
But you are right D. None of them brothers could get the job done.
But please don't overreact to my sentiment about my little girl. I'm actually commenting on the dozen or so 'de facto marriages', find the perfect mate and at 40 'become a mom'.
oops. Meant to say:
But please don't overreact to my sentiment about my little girl. I'm actually commenting on the insanity of our current dating culture that expects women after dozen or so 'de facto marriages' and serial monogamy, to find the perfect mate at 40 and to 'become a mom'.
And dont forget Wesley, who busted her in the head and made her deaf in one ear! or was that Christopher Williams.
That chick has issues no man can help. She must first fix herself, by herself.
I know someone who is tight with Shemar Moore and have heard some crazy stories about her insecurities.
She's screwed up b/c her mom is a white woman, IMO.
LOL. Robyn you rough. Whew.
There are many women, and men, who are screwed up who don't have a white parent. So, it's hard to place blame there.
As far as fixing them herself ... people were not built to fix their problems themselves. We need each other.
Healthy confrontation.
(I'm good at it, but I'm taken, otherwise Halle would be sittin on Oprah's couch with 2 kids giggling about how happy she is.)

LOL.
Rather than taking from the Halle story the idea that you should, in fact, MEDDLE in your daughter's eventual marriage (yeah I said it, MEDDLE), use the story as an indication of how important it is to teach her that happiness and contentment will not result from her physical beauty alone. She must have something about her independent of her looks. You dont want her to be a trainwreck!.
Agreed on that. Becoming a mom at 40, which is more common these days, is so wrong for many reasons. People aren't being parented with the idea of settling down and having a mate.
Robyn,
"use the story as an indication of how important it is to teach her that happiness and contentment will not result from her physical beauty alone. She must have something about her independent of her looks."
I'm not sure what you mean here. Do you think Halle felt happiness and contentment would result from "beauty alone"?
I've always thought it was the other way around. Beauty was the product of happiness and contentment.
As far as my daughter. Watch your boy waltz his little girl into a dope situation.

Robyn:
Yep! Then she flipped out when it (her beauty) didnt yield genuine love and respect for her from men.
Because she's soooo beautiful, men wanted to bed her, not honor her. I'm think that screwed her up.
And the more a man argues that he doesn't need a woman to save him from himself, the more he really does in fact need a woman to save him.
the journey is the thing....
Halle didn't have a father. Nuff said.
Anyone ever heard Mary J Blige's "Father In You?"
"When I was a little girl I didn't have a father. And that's why I'm leaning on you...
When I was a baby I didn't get a hug from daddy. That's why I need a hug from you...
That's why I need, The father in you..."
that is some dangerous shit. and it CAN'T happen. get your self a good therapist or invest heavily in some self help literature.
Jasai, what is dangerous? A woman seeking fatherly energy from her man?
Umm ...
That just seems to be the course of nature. Hell, in high school they was calling me Daddy before I could drive.
