I HATE the Celtics - always have.
But I like this group of players.
I like the Lakers - always have.
But I can't stand Kobe.

More like the blackest refs on the planet!
Ray Allen is "black"?

UBJ!

Hate the Celtics.
But love these Celtics too.

Aight with the Lakers.
Love Kobe.

D!

Man. Don't matter where I'm from.

The truth is the truth.

These Celtics are as Black as Georgetown in 1984.

Denmark Vesey said...

Refs?

Nah man.

Celtics took that game.

Wanted it more.

Kobes teammates nutted up.

Ray Allen?

Black?

Yup.

With a vengeance.

G'Town in '84 with the Blue and Gray Nikes! You can extend that label to UNLV in '91 under Jerry Tarkanian.

Brother DV:

The irony of the "Blackest Team On The Planet" wearing the name of a EUROCENTRIC cultural reference seems to escape you.

When they become:

* The Boston Zulus
* The Boston Ebos
* The Boston Yoruba
* The Boston Hausa

THEN you can assign such a designation bro.

Nah CF - It's not the name but the Game that's changed.

These are not Dave Cowens, Larry Bird, Danny Ainge, Kevin McHale,...
These are Pierce, Perkins, KG, Allen, Allen, Rondo, Big Baby and Doc.

These are the dudes who used to have to play street ball while the league would proclaim the old Bob Cousey teams as the best in the land.

I'm not disagreeing with you. I just thought you'd be down for the home team. Just caught me by surprise that you (unlike every other friend of mine from L.A.) thought they were putting it down for real...instead of complaining that the refs were making bad calls.

Me? I'm just from Boston originally.

Black or not. Ugly or not. Larry Bird was the real deal. Period.

Boston?

Lived in Dorchester as a kid.

Roxbury Community School.

Elma Lewis School of Fine Arts.

Did my thing in Boston.

But I'm not a team cat.

I pull for individuals.

Ali. Mayweather. Kobe.

@ DMG - Larry Bird?
That's a BOLD statement.

What's up Soulijah, my cousin used to live on Intervale St.

Fulda St, Morton St....my grandfathers church was off Blue Hill Ave.

UBJ, yeah I said it.

Didn't stutter and I'll repeat it slowly: Larry-Motherfucking-Bird.

Sure he's ugly.

Sure he's boring looking.

I'm not a big fan of swagger, but even our host has say this man had it:

"For 13 seasons with the Boston Celtics, from 1979-80 through 1991-92, Bird personified hustle, consistency and excellence in all areas of play--as a scorer, a passer, a rebounder, a defender, a team player, and, perhaps above all, as a clutch performer. Bird was so self-confident that he was known to waltz up to the opponents' bench before tipoff and predict a 40-point performance for himself. He was such a deadly shooter that he sometimes practiced three-pointers with his eyes closed."

@ Pink: I'm still standing regardless of the outcome of tonight's game. Boston is my home base. 617 all day, baby!!!!

@ DMG: You rep Boston & Haiti? Word up, D! I knew there was a reason I liked your resiliency & presence here at DV's spot. You both go at each other on the daily like the damn Celtics & Lakers just did.

As for Intervale St. my cousin's used to run it on some "Nino Brown" type shit. I'm not proud of that but if not for their associate with Intervale Posse (IVP) I wouldn't be as familiar with Intevale street as I am.

I know you directed you comments about Larry "The Legend" Bird at UBJ, but I just wanted to chime in on LB. He is/was one of the greatest players to play the game but what is often overlooked is LB played with 3 Hall-of-Famers (Chief, McHale,& DJ) & had Cornbread Maxwell coming off the bench. Hell of a supporting cast that too often doesn't get the respect they so rightfully deserve b/c the media's love affair with Larry.

Souljah, Intervale Posse still exists right? I represented a girl who rocked with them a couple years ago. Pretty little girl who I yelled at for being too pretty to be in a gang. I THINK she said she was in Intervale Posse but I could be wrong. I guess they have like a junior division or something because she was only like 14. Actually her sister was the one I was defending because she beat one of those little bitches down for hitting her sister.

@ Pink: The players change but the game is still the game. Intervale Posse (IVP) still exist & unfortunately as long as the conditions & mindset is the same then IVP will always be in existence. Just the players from the JV squad moving up to varsity with the former varsity players moving on to cell block 10 or taking dirt naps. Frustrating & depressing at the same time.
