GMO means genetically modified organism.CF DV is referring to foods that have had genes inserted into them from other species. EG inserting a cold water fish gene into tomatoes to make them withstand cold weather better. While in principle this seems like a good idea, proteins are showing up in these foods that ought not be there and the effects of GMO food are largely unknown at this point. In Europe GMO foods must be labelled. In the US, corporations have fought to keep labellng of GMO foods voluntary at best.
Since we don't know the long term impact of consuming these foods, I'd err on the side of caution. And I damned sure don't wanna feed that stuff to my boy, which is why I buy Cal-certified organic veggies almost exclusively. Sometiems I buy non certified orgnaic stuff but only when I am desperate!
