Now if only we could decriminalize drugs and regulate the narcotics industry the way we do vices and dangerous items like alcohol, tobacco, gambling, pornography and guns, then we would have a new physics at work in our cities.

however, the sharp decline in the prison system population is the major hurdle to decriminalizing drugs. prison system reform is step #1.
Forgiveness is not the dominant trait of the current crop of moralists. It would start by acknowledging the humanity of poor black people relative to their affluent counterparts.
