I don't fall for the Cornel West okey doke. He was for Hillary and was HATIN' on Barack from jump, not because Barack was "corporate," but because he was not Hillary. West also has written articles and books praising Israel. It's hard for me to listen to a black Ivy League professor criticize a black politician for protecting the establishment. West has made a nice living from the same people Barack has.
What do you think about the "issues" he raises concerning the Obama Presidency?
1) Has Obama developed the bad habit of 'neutralizing white fears' while capitalizing on black solidarity"?
2) Has Obama "appointed an economic team that virtually gifted 759 Billion to banks ... when $50 Billion could have eliminated poverty in major areas of the US"?
3) Is Obama executing "Technocratic policy and not Democratic policy"?
4) 34% unemployment for black men between 16 and 24 ... but Obama is rubber-stamping the spending of billions making contractors rich in Afghanistan
Who other than Cornell West has the heart, and the intellectual courage to even address these issues?

Uh, Brer Prez, you say 10 years. Is that 2 years of Clinton and 8 years of Bush, or 8 years of Bush and nearly 2 years of yo’self? That damage the POTUS refers to includes depression-era levels of unemployment; a massive loss of wealth through foreclosures resulting from the sub-prime crises and the deliberate economic shock of 9/15; a 47 percent high school graduation rate for African American males, and the mass incarceration of non-violent Black offenders.
As Nathan Glazer points out these issues are not even being discussed by Obama:
"Not one issue having to do with American blacks was on the explicit agenda of either major political party during the 2008 campaign or on the agenda of the Obama Administration during the first year of his presidency.”

The founders of the American state understood that the proper functioning of a democracy required an educated electorate. It is this understanding that justifies a system of public education and that led slaveholders to resist the spread of literacy among their chattels. But the meaning of "educated" has changed beyond recognition in two hundred years. Reading, writing, and arithmetic are no longer sufficient to decide on public policy. Now we need quantum mechanics and molecular biology. The knowledge required for political rationality, once available to the masses, is now in the possession of a specially educated elite, a situation that creates a series of tensions and contradictions in the operation of representative democracy.

He is spending money fixing other ships.
To say "other presidents did the same thing" ... doesn't keep up from drowning.
