Not many know about the people of Beta Israel.

Ras Tafari, the only independent Black monarch of the time.

"Arguably one of the greatest figures of the 20th Century, Haile Selassie (meaning Power of the Trinity), born Tafari Makonen, was Ethiopia's regent from 1916 to 1930 and Emperor of Ethiopia from 1930 to 1974, belonging to a dynasty that traces its origins back to King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba.

To the Rastafari movement, he is considered none other than God incarnate - something Selassie himself, being a devout Orthodox Christian, denied. To millions more, he is a symbol of liberty and righteousness."

Just found out not to long ago that 'Bad Brains' aren't Jamaican. Not that it was a secret, people like myself just assumed since they are Rastafarian.

The Rasta community really started booming in Houston in like the late 80's. So when I used to wear locks it was like the early 90's cause I saw Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Jarobi an'em doing it. So when a Rasta would see me they would be like, "RASTA! Something, something..." 'Coarse only knowing Houston culture I didn't know what he was saying so I'm like, "'Sup" Them dudes would look at me like, "Wutthafug?"

That's a funny story Gee Chee, when I was rising with my sistas we used to hail up every person with natural looking locks and sometimes they'd reply other times they'd be jst like you. As time went on and trod more with Rases we were able to discern a Ras from a dread; it's a fine line sometimes, but your instinct is your guide.
