My understanding is mike's illness caused pale spots and he chose to bleach to keep his skintone consistent.
Cats wanting to be white don't ooze soul with every move and note they sing. Cats wanting to be white don't have world premieres of videos on primetime television depicting Black Pharaohs and Queens in Egypt with an all black cast (when hollywood refused to) while he's pale in the video. I just don't buy the "wanting to be white" BS. Judge him because of his women and kids if you choose but that POV is tired and lazy.

Good looking young black man. Beautiful hair, eyes, nose and lips. Who would want to change those features?
I have always maintained that I believe the majority of white women would rather look like me given the choice. But I'm kind of conceited. On the flipside, Mike chose to look like them... so I guess the grass is always greener (except for us conceited ppl).
I have yet to see a White woman kink her hair or broaden her nose.
What's up Pink? You deserve to be conceited.
Tito, have you ever seen a white person risk skin cancer to get brown?
You have to be very black to hate yourself enough to try and scrape it off.
And no matter what he did to his skin, he never stopped embracing and celebrating Africa.
My daughter asks me when did Michael Jackson turn white. I tell her he was ALWAYS black.

Michael was a true black man. Sad, story though.
MOTI,
Skin cancer? It's only sunshine...
I keep hearing conflicting reports on the skin situation. I assuming he was lying about the vitiglo claims. But the autopsy seem to suggest otherwise. Then I heard otherwise.
But all the plastic surgery? No good reason for any of that. Even if I accept the jheri curls and lacefronts as part of his "showmanship", shaving off your nose and adding the cleft chin is just bonkers.
That said, he clearly had the entirely of black music and showmanship flowing through like the Nile or the Mississipi...he had black pride and black shame at the same time. Like a lot of people.
I don't think getting in a discussion about MJ's possible self-hatred is productive. But there were some signs that may lead the average person to come to the reasonable conclusion that he may not have liked the way he looked.
Vitiligo? Plausible reason to use products that might even out his tone. OK.
Rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, chin implants, etc.? Maybe there was a theme.
All I'm saying is that unless one is horribly deformed and/or has some ailment that inhibits normal functioning, why undergo a surgical procedure? Kanye West's mom found this out the hard way, all for the sake of vanity.
Didn't our host just recently post something about liposuction?
