Your assumption that people would be any more inflamed if the child had been decapitated rather than buried in rubble says volumes about your emotional deficiency.
Wrong. The inflammatory nature of this particular image is the reason you posted it... and the reason Denmark Vesey followed suit.
There are other images of this scene shot by the same photographer... showing the girl's body in the rubble, the girl in the arms of a man, etc.
None of those images found their way onto your website.
All you had to do, Michael, was say what the picture was.

The media coverage of the war in Gaza by Western television companies is largely unfair and biased because of a refusal to show viewers the real images of the victims.
One of the reasons for this is Israel’s decision not to allow the Western media in to Gaza.
In addition to this outrageous censorship by a so-called democracy, we get the usual arguments that most of the images shown by the Arab media are too shocking to show the viewing public in the West.
Admittedly, the horrific clip sent to me of a child’s head lying detached, among debris in Gaza did make me gasp.
But this is war and this is real and if the Western media did show these sort of images may be the general public would wake up to the full horrors of what happens when bombs are dropped on civilian populations.
There is no such reticence in the Arab media which is why more people with satellites are switching on to television from the Middle East to watch the unfolding genocide in Gaza.
"But this is war" ...

Consider two other famously horrific images of children which shocked the world: Emmett Till in his coffin... and Phan Thị Kim Phúc, the 9-year-old Vietnamese girl running naked after a napalm attack.
Those images conveyed a clear truth.
Fisher's image, absent any textual description, only sows confusion.

No.
What's irresponsible and unpardonable is the psychopathic crime that resulted in the horrible still life captured in that image.
That the image is ambiguous, and conducive to exceptional moral horror when ambiguously presented, is all the better.

First off, it's not Fisher's image. He's a far cry from the first or the only viewer of that image to have been struck by its ambiguous horror.
I don't see anywhere that he misrepresented what it depicts.
What it depicts is clearly an atrocity and the perpetration of that atrocity is the only issue I can see as relevant.
^ Well, I think it's a slippery slope from that kind of "ambiguous presentation" and straight-up Photoshopping.
David seriously, how can you reconcile your demand for perfect narrative clarity in the use of this image with the fact that you have been serially engaged in the creation of some uniquely ambiguous narrative deliverables?
