It's a play for psychiatric and psychological orthodoxy.

To the extent that these decidedly unscientific orthodoxies function as an explanatory proxy, and a self-perpetuating and authoritative system of governance and control over psychological understanding and practice - i.e., the enforcers and gatekeepers of "normalcy" of course the psychiatric and psychological guilds serve as proponents of a way of life which is described in part as Dopamine Hegemony.

The psychiatrist/psychologist subserves a specific dimension of hegemonic interest in exactly the same way that economists serve the interests of rationalizing elite control over wealth and resources.
