Wow. Number 1 Video In The World. 14 Million Viewers. Why?

The quick story: In 2003 Harding quit his job and and wandered around Asia. During this trip, a travel buddy suggested Matt do his signature bad dance. This video made its way onto the Internet, where many people watched it.

In fact, so many people watched it that Stride gum offered to send him on another trip around the world to do his jig. So in 2006 Harding took his moves to 39 different countries on seven continents.

Not satisfied with getting Stride to pay for one trip around the globe, Harding went back to the gum company to ask them to fund another trip, and this time, he invited people at the places he visits to dance on camera with him.

Ok, DV, I am officially obsessed with this damn thing now. I HOPE you're happy. >:^P.

Here's the lyrics that poem, "Stream of Life" from the credits, that the song is from. (Oddly appropriate lyrics, too.)

Stream of Life, from the Gitanjali. (Wikipedia it.)

The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day

runs through the world and dances in rhythmic measures.

It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth

in numberless blades of grass

and breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers.

It is the same life that is rocked in the ocean-cradle of birth

and of death, in ebb and in flow.

I feel my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life.

And my pride is from the life-throb of ages dancing in my blood this moment.

Hey Brother LD.

Good point.

But then ... how do we explain the BIG budget flops?

I heard about this guy like a year ago. He was found on the internet doing that silly dance. Then he got some major corporate sponsorship dough to travel the world and do this.

I actually thought it was pretty interesting how it shows that no matter how near or far, no matter the language, country, color or creed, there is a common thread that runs through us all. Humor.

I found it oddly....uplifting.

It was very moving seeing the world come together as one.The theme of Matt dancing in all these different parts of the world. It brought tears to my eyes.

^^^Hey Anon,

Thought I was the only one. *Looks around the room.* What?! What, a brother can't have one of them uplifting moments that affirms his humanity that all the movies and books and tv shows keep talking about?! What!? It really got me to see him dancing with the little kids in Africa.

What's the name of that song? It was beautiful. God as my witness, i'm going to travel the world like that someday. I see why it's #1. There's something very profound and artful about it in it's simplicity. Mind if I nick it for my blog? (With proper crediting, of course. S'not like anybody even reads the damn thing anyway.) Anyhoo...

GTFOH. "Antarctica". What, are you kidding me. I read somewhere that it's cold enough there to freeze your eye sockets in like 10 secs. How dur hell did he manage to pull that one off?! For that matter, how did he even get there?! Jesus, there must be a lot of money in gum. I'm noticing they show commercials nonstop, and i'll be honest, if not for bumming pieces off of people here and there, i haven't chewed gum in years. (Well, ok, I may have bought a pack or two, but still...) SMH, and doesn't get it.
(who's just channeling his jealousy at matt's good fortune into technicalities.)
