Why Do These Images Bother Both White Racists and Black Racists?

"What's a "black racist"?"

A black man or woman who subscribes to a doctrine that insists inherent differences among the various human races or race based 'systems' determines cultural or individual achievement ... or lack there of. Unlike most other racists who believe that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others - most black racists tend to believe others are superior to them and blacks are incapable of ruling anyone.

What's a "black racist"?
Yawn....A white racist is intimidated by such an image because it sabatoges his faux belief in white purity and superiority. A black racist..., well, they simply do not exist. I'll entertain this topic no more.
I'm more bothered by the fact that the brother isn't depicted as classy in his smooth attire. After all, this is from the front page of VOGUE, is it not?
Kudos for posting this D..
I didnt care for the picture for the same reasons as AKA Lynn, he doesnt look as good as he could had he had on a suit. I didnt even know about the King Kong thing until I saw the corresponding image on the net somewhere.
But here's the rub, although I didnt immediately recognize the Kong King play, that doesnt mean the photographer didnt intend to compare LeBraun to King Kong. It was in truly poor taste to say the least.
But what continues to stump me, is how white folks know that a King Kong comparison is not a good move.
Hmmm. Never met a person that fits that definition, DV. Especially the part about "most black racists tend to believe others are superior to them and blacks are incapable of ruling anyone."
I think these types of images shocked people in the 1990s, but not now. When I look at the pic, all I see is Lebron. I barely even noticed the woman.
Black racism is just as real as white racism. When someone acts like only the white opinion matters, it tells me a lot about how insignificant they feel.
If you look more closely at that picture, you'll see that the pic is not just about King Kong, but about who is in charge in this pic. And it is clearly the white woman. Look closely at James' left hand. He is not holding or grabbing the (presumably) white woman around the waist. Which in itself would indicate a measure of physical control of her. In fact, his thumb and index finger are held at such an unnatural angle that I suspect it has been photo-shopped.
The position of the bodies is such that the (presumably) white woman is leaning into James with her right arm behind his back, implying that she is steering him.
Thus the message to the Vogue readership (overwhelmingly white women): Monstrous, powerful ape the black male may be, white woman will always be the boss. The black male is a pet.
Annie Leibovitz, the photographer, is very very good. She understands the language of images. She's also a well-known white feminist/bi-sexual who had a long "lovers" relationship with the late Susan Sontag who (Susan Sontag) famously said: "The white race is the cancer of human history".
"race based 'systems' "
Its that phrase alone that disproves your theory that Blacks can be racist. Blacks, for the most part, are not in positions of power over large groups of people. It is very difficult for Blacks to create a "system" that would disenfranchise persons of other ethnicities. Thats why Blacks cannot be racist.
BUT, they can be prejudiced and discriminate like a motha, though.
