For fans to "hate", "dislike", "want to trade", "be tired of" arguably one of the greatest basketball superstars in history, is counterintuitive.
Which begs the question why?
The typical response is the male soap opera Casper gave in the Phil Jackson post - where he repeats the tired mainstream spin / propaganda /story of how "Kobe made Shaq leave the Lakers". Like it was that simple.
Even my boy Big J, gives vague half-hearted responses when challenged to explain why he sides with the old gay white team owner and against the young black athlete father and husband.
The "Negro Floggings of The Week" are designed to get black people accustomed to attacking and punishing other blacks for vague reasons suggested by the state.
Evidently, it is working.
Whoever said I'm "siding with Buss." That's the way self-conscious, reactionary minds view the matter.
All I said was that I'm not a fan of the brother anymore. It was the snitching on Shaq during the rape deal that did it for me. But the constant crying in the media and dogging out his fellow teammates that didn't help either.

Kobe is a great player, but he's only got one year left on his contract, so we have to trade him in order to get something for him.

My reasons for not being a Kobe fan was his disregard for those who set the template he was going to follow. Now, I'm no yes sir, yes ma'am kinda person just by virtue of age. You could be a horrible person at 70 and not deserve my respect. That being said, if I was going around town being the new-school 'black personal responsibility' proponent I'd definately be giving the Cos props for the template and providing some mainstream access. That being said, when he started dunking with his tongue out and getting crazy endorsement deals I needed him to respect MJ's template a bit more.
I can see people saying that's not a good enough reason, I was ready to back off of him for a moment.
Then came the comments about black women being mad at him because of his chosen mate and him aknowledging this 'so-called' jealousy in a very nanny-nanny boo-boo-ish way.
Then I was always a bit concerned about the rift with his family...2 sides to every story I know...but I let this assumption pile on to the others.
Then the SNITCHING...that's it...what, maybe he didn't know the rules being raised in Italy and all...um, naw, it just seemed really foul and childish again...kinda squaring with the other reasons I had.
The Shaq deal and he and Phil's rocky roads...I'm not sure about those any more...time has started to paint those situations in a different light.
I'm willing to rethink my position on him and have of late. I'm still not his biggest fan, although he's an incredibly focused talent like Tiger. I'm also willing to let him mature like many folks wouldn't let Iverson do.
As smart as he is though, I just wish he'd give us some Etan Thomas and less of MJ these days. But then again, my sports jones has been lost...

If one is a conformist your correct. However some of us are critical thinkers with the ability to discern a good team player when we see one or not.
