he deserves to be flogged! he is an irresponsible cruel human being. Negro or not!
Is the story more important compared to Iraq, Iran Darfur no. In the world of pro sports yes. People do have different interest... Entertainment being one. Like you like hip hop ... Some like football. Now if Peyton Manning had done the same thing I think he would get the same attention... Just like Paris Hilton's media attention... agree? At the end of the day don't do the stupid crime if you can't do the time.
The point about the importance of this is accurate. News aint news no mo.
The sad part in this is the root of this issue is trust. Athletes don't trust many ppl and rightfully so. Not trusting would be advisors from outside of an immediate social circle leads to bad advice or a lack of advice that would make sure vick would disconnect himself from this subculture sport that leads one directly to fed time and your family away from the financial security they've been banking on since you laced up your first cleats. Sad.
KP
"If Peyton Manning had done the same thing " ...
Done what?
Exactly? Casper, what has Michael Vick -DONE?
He hasn't "Done" a damn thing until it has been proven in a court of law. Men are routinely tried in public by the media, not by that blind folded woman holding a scale.
What happened to Innocent until PROVEN Guilty?
Is this no longer America?
Ok... Let me alter a bit...If Peyton had the same charges against him... The same media attention would be present. Secondly, being tried in the media is a different issue whether your black/white ... rich/poor (i.e. Duke Lacrosse). All I can say is that Vick and other pro atheletes are compensated well to stay out of and away from potential legal issues that could taint their images and that of their teams. So to date he is guilty of associating himself with people who were conducting illegal activity. He needs to take responsibility. Your blog post should be about that.. Not the results of not being responsible my man. There is zero defense for stupidity!
"ll I can say is that Vick and other pro atheletes are compensated well to stay out of and away from potential legal issues that .."
No.
Vick is compensated well to play football.
What he is compensated, is less than what he earns for the league. Vick is one of the most exciting and entertaining athletes in the history of Football. He puts asses in the seat. He puts people in front of televisions.
They make money off of him. No one is doing Michael Vick a favor.
However, people need others to blame. Americans are hypocrits who need to point fingers and blame others.
I've noticed a pattern. The media / judicial system will dangle a Negro every week or so, with some vague ass charges, in front of a nation of starving hypocrits looking for someone to crucify.
It's Vicks turn this week.
I cannot understand why this is news. Were talking about DOGS!
It's news because people like Casper love nonsense like this to get themselves worked up into a self-righteous lather about "those" people.
DV
"No.
Vick is compensated well to play football."
So wrong DV... First his NFL contract has conduct code. Secondly, he makes way more money with endorsements deals than his NFL contract. The man because of football is very well paid to sell Gatorade, etc. and each of those agreements that he agreed to have code of conduct language. Listen I am not into defending brotha's just because they are black.
Where was your defense of the WWE wrestler and his death with his family. No he was wrong too. And that story got to much and is still getting to much press.
I don't defend blacks for stupidity! Nor should you!

Now that is just an ignorant ass statement. You don't know me from a can of paint. You don't know what I love or don't love so keep your stupidity to yourself.
What I find so hypocritical is that your asking the question about why is this story newsworthy but yet you keep posting it on the site. So if other topics are more important what does that say about your position on what's newsworthy or not?
DV

Who on this planet does not make money off of another human being. Who... Name one?

Well maybe if you were white you would notice the same pattern? Or maybe just maybe wealthy men/women of color think they are somehow impervious to societal laws. Soon they forget then the man provides a wake up call.
Let me ask you DV... Do you participate in Dog fighting... Do you make in rain in strip clubs then cap those who pickup the money. Do you beat your spouse then wonder why she smashes in your car window in front of the neighbors. No! I am sure is the answer. Because why... That shyt doesn't sound like fun to you?
Nah because you know better. You got fu%king sense. Your parents taught you have to act. You know right from wrong. You don't want to go to jail... It could be many of these reasons.
Bottomline is that there is zero excuse for hip hop, ball playing negros to act like ignorant unthoughtful clowns.

Are you 12 years old?

I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm posting what on what site?
This is important in the world of sport and in the world of celebrity.
What does it matter whether he is black or white or yellow?? The man has been closely associated with illegal behavior or actions, not to talk about the cruelty to animals aspect. I'm black and writing from Accra Ghana......so I have no interest in seeing a black man fall. But, he is infact a complete idiot.
II
Are you 666?
Welcome to the Brotha from Accra.
You ask an excellent question. The significance of Mr. Vick’s skin color is not important regarding his guilt or innocence of the charges. His skin color is important regarding the media coverage of the event and it’s propaganda impact on society.
1) I argue the quantity of media coverage is disproportionate and the quality of the media coverage is defamatory because of a) Michael Vick’s race and b) Michael Vick’s celebrity and c) Michael Vick’s gender.
2) I also argue that there exists a pattern of media coverage in America of young black men designed to portray them as dangerous, mindless and “other”. Hardly a week goes by without the corporate media publicly flogging a young black wealthy celebrity (Negro Flogging of The Week). One the days when no rich young brotha has violated the law they examine every word Kobe Bryant says with a microscope and repeat over and over that he is “selfish”.
I believe this pattern is evidence of an agenda that exists within corporate media to further “fringe” black men, much the way Muslims and other groups are portrayed as extremists.
3) I challenge black intellectuals to stop reacting to the media by jumping on bandwagons and bending over backwards to be the first to call other men “stupid”. I am hoping we become more conscious of the way media is used and that we learn to use it more effectively counterbalance the way others wish to portray us.

Wait one minute!... You have wannabe gansta rappers on video countdown shows day any night portraying choir boys? or ganstas? and you say that "there exists a pattern of media coverage in America of young black men designed to portray them as dangerous, mindless and “other”."
What are you smoking?... You have arguments that are convenient for when you wish to use them my man. I am calling you on the carpet. Which way do you want it. Hypocrisy! to the tenth degree!

Pump your brakes Casper, you are approaching an intellectually steep curve.
Your little Toyota Prius of an intellect is about to skid off a cliff.
There is a reason, after this same conversation over and over, you haven't kept up with the evolving discourse on this subject.
You don't understand Hip Hop.
Yeah, yeah, you live in the Bronx, you mentor kids "in the hood", you used to write rhymes ... whatever.
You like most people, don't understand poetry.
You assume Hip Hop, measured in it's totality, portrays black men as dangerous mindless and other. That's because you can't see beyond 1st base.
My Maserati GranTurismo of an intellect believes Hip Hop measured in it's totality, portrays an image of black men that is complex, creative, powerful, masculine, soulful, intelligent, witty, productive, original and lucrative.
I submit it's international phenomena that is Hip Hop's success as evidence of the attractiveness of those collective qualities.
No Casper. Hip Icons are not role bodies FOR EVERYBODY. Please don't even start that silly line of reasoning.
Icons, by definition, are not supposed to be for "EVERYONE".
No Casper 10 year olds should not see all videos.
So please spare us the analogies that suggest young boys display dysfunctional behavior 'because 50 Cent' told them to.

First of all professor a gansta music video is not poetry. Next I dont assume Shyt I listen to the kids in the hood and what they think. Something you don't understand... The hood!
Most of all Mr. I am so smart what Universities have you received your degrees from?
See it black's like you who live in white neighboorhoods who get off watching blacks do stupid shit... Then argue to black folks that it's the media fault. You did nothing wrong. Keep doing what you doing. When you yourself don't participate in any of the bullshit you protect. Hypocrisy! not intellect! Hypocrisy!
Actually, I'm a sista from Accra.
