I don't think that he "wanna' be white" - I think that he (like many) just wishes to distance himself from those still stuck in the hood. (Even though it was those from the hood who made it possible for him to never have to live in the hood.)
Seems like he upgraded his trophy. Not looks (both would get it obviously, but appeal, relevance, influence, business acumen. & who knows, maybe they make each other laugh and share silence w/out feeling awkward.
problem is, she will play him before he plays her, and that's not a good look. there's no real future in it, and she might be richer and have more game.
