Check this article in the times out. Its about Americans being aggressively dumb as hell. Not really news or all that interesting by itself, but it brings to mind a brilliant and ridonkulously eloquent essay written by Baldwin in 1955 where he relates American willful ignorance to its refusal to deal with the conflict between its higher ideals of equality and its actual treatment of its black citizens. Could this be chickens coming home to roost?
