  4. God gives a black baby a set of wings
The child looks up at God with tears in his eyes, and says, "Thank you Lord. Does this make me an angel?"

God looked down at the child with infinite grace and mirth and said

    "Naw nigga, you a bat."

  6. That's Spidy's ultimate arch-enemy, the vicious black poisonous beast, Venom. (Aside from the fact that the child is in Blackface including the required red lips)

    Venom

    Quite perceptive, DV.

  9. Whew ...

Thank you Kalena. I knew I could count on you.

You right. Seal. Heidi. Do your thing.

But Heidi needs a black female friend to sign off on future outfits.

    Kalena, you should email her.

  10. oh. i don't why i read 'the inside man' and thought 'thestateof'. my bad. but the heidi comment was directed at the inside man, after all.

haha DV you're too funny. i'll give her a pass on this one. she's usually pretty fierce.

  11. Sorry, I'm still lost.

So what exactly went wrong? The kid in black face or the fact that Heidi "got" one of the Black men we still wanted?

  13. Hey Robyn,

Come on now. No way in hell, you or Jasai or Sasha or Erika or Momma Harris or Aunt Connie or any black woman I ever met is going to walk around with her baby looking like a monkey - unnecessarily.

That boy would just have to be a football player this year.

    Black face?

    Come on People!

  14. You are assuming blackface means the same thing to everybody.
I am a black woman, and black face does not have any negative connotation to me personally. Though I am aware of it's dubious past.

    Monkey???

I guess beauty or should I say "monkey" is in the eye of the beholder!

  15. Ah ... I see what you are saying Accra.

But I don't mean avoid blackface because it was once used in this country by racists to mock black people.

I mean avoid 'blackface' only beause it is not a good look.

Racist past means nothing to me.

  16. To tell you the truth, DV, all I saw was a costume on a little black boy. Black face didnt even cross my mind until someone else said it.

  17. In fact, I tivo'd Seal and Heidi on Oprah and am waitching it now, I'm not even mad at them.

  18. I agree with rjesq, my mind didn't go there either until someone else brought it up. LOL
