I got a shirt that has Martin, Malcolm and Obama on it, and at the bottom it says, "Dream come true". I'dve never bought it but my girl knew I was a big Obama stan back in the day so she got it for me. Not really my steez but it was a gift and her heart was in the right place. I wore it maybe twice and still couldn't shake the "wait and see" attitude I had about him so I closeted it.
This was before he got into office and the reason of course being I couldn't give ol' boy nearly that much juice without seeing his track record first. He sold me with the words but I just wanted to make sure the actions would match. (Think we all know how that turned out.)
Flash forward to now and you can't imagine how much I hate that shirt. Me and my girl actually had a fight about it because I wanted to make a YouTube vid where I burn it. It was a gift from her so you can imagine how well that went over. She's not nearly as deep into this politics ish as I am, so for her it's just a shirt's a shirt. But this shit's real, man.
Explain, Boosie. In what ways is the "artists" painting "right"? I don't see it. MLK spoke out against the corporate class structure. He spoke out against unjust wars and how the govt. and business were making money off of killing poor people. Obama? He's starting unjust wars and whoring for the corporate class structure, presiding over the largest wealth transfer in this country's history...and it ain't being redistributed towards the poor and middle classes, neither. The painting would only be right if instead of MLK's head looming behind O it was G.W. Bush's head. Or Mussolini's.

Politics is the wrong forum for the spirit of his campaign message.
ReplyDeleteHe's a politician first, second... and last.
Other than speaking from a podium, there is no comparison. None.
It's "right" in a few ways too, though. Unfortunately.

ReplyDeleteMaybe I missed it, but what "war" did Obama start?
