Can't forget the Sundry Act of 1790 that exempt four South Carolina "black" families from being subject to Negro Law...as they provided evidence of their being in the direct bloodline of Morrocan royalty. The US has held this treaty with Morroco since 1757 I believe...they know what's up. I feel that this is a perfect example of why we are taught that we are nothing but Black/Colored/Negro/African-Afro Americans...because their is no tie to sovereignty or nationality in any of those labels. Black is nothing but status, look at the Chinese in South Africa:

Nothing more than status...and a label of second class citizenship.
I think the first permanent photograph was produced in the 1800's..... wheen did you say this photo was taken? 1524... they had phographs then ? That is an outright falsehood! what's with this moor obession.... all people originated from Africa, and evolved a long the line ... at least that's what antropologists say.
There was no place called Australia or Lagos neither y'know. And the world was never called Asia...yea I said it.
But seriously, where is the pic from? I think might be BigMan rite - them look like ribbons on those kids and patch flowers on the dress. I could be dead wrong but that headdress looks like its from the modern era to me.
BTW Naturally Mel's a sista. I hope she comes back and says more abt her fam.
Are those pictures of Mardi Gras Indians?

ReplyDeletelove it. we are beautiful.
ReplyDeletei'm pretty sure those are mardi gras indians.
ReplyDeleteNah Big Man.
ReplyDeleteThose are actually photos of Indians along the Carolina cost taken in 1524.
Funny.
ReplyDeleteFrom my limited understanding of Native American culture, a headress of that size and magnitude would not be worn by a child.
ReplyDeleteGiven my hometown, and my somewhat less limited knowledge of the Mardi Gras Indians, I remain convinced those are Mardi Gras Indians.
thats one helluva camera they had in 1524.

So D Smith, are you know advocating that we reject the "black" label?
ReplyDeleteOr simply redefine it?

ReplyDelete^^ Ummm ... ^^
ReplyDeleteJoke. Facetious. Playful. Teasing. Kidding. Ribbing. Tongue n Cheek.
Chill out.
Whether "all people originated in Africa" or not is a matter of opinion.
Unless you can tell me how and when the Aborigines of Australia left Lagos and took to the forests of The Land Down Under.
When people were "originated" ... there was no land called "Africa".
LOL, funny Anon.
