Just think of all the fair competitors who lost glory, opportunities and endorsements because they got beat by her cheating ass. Which went on for YEARS! Then think of the hypocrisy of her grandstanding about not cheating.
Hell, throw in Bill Clinton and Jim Bakker...complete with pity party face for getting busted.
Even with that. I have a hard time justifying pardoning her. She did the crime. She did grandstand about not cheating. SHe should do her time...at least some of it.
If Wolfowitz, Feith, Perle, Rumsfeld, Abrams and the rest of the war-o-cons are still walking around free and got their friend Scooter a get out of jail free pass, Marion Jones should be chillin' poolside somewhere.
DV, I'm not really understanding why this is so intellectually courageous. The Why Scooter part is a good question but "why not Marion?" Where do I begin?
Who Is The Victim of Her "Crime"?
Only the other atheltes who trained hard and clean only to be beaten by miliseconds by a doped up Marion. Miliseconds which would have changed their lives forever.
Where is their medal presentation ceremony..7 years later? Where is their 15 minutes in the spotlight...7 years later? Where is their opportunity to stand victories in representation of their coutries for being the best in the World...7 years later? Where are all their endorsement deals that come along with being an Olympic gold medalist...7 years later? Marion STOLE MILLIONS of dollars from those athletes, then fucked it off.
By doping, Marion affected the lives of those people and their families eternally.
This was not a victimless crime.
Starting not to feel too badly for Marion any more.
Just imagine if your kid deceived you about how she obtained such good grades in school. Who is the victim? I suggest it is you.. Her mother, classmates and herself.
Why should she be pardoned?
ReplyDeleteShe is the Eliot Spitzer of track.

And I think she's had a man, btw...
I feel for Marion.
ReplyDeleteShe seems to have lost almost everything.
Even with that. I have a hard time justifying pardoning her. She did the crime. She did grandstand about not cheating. SHe should do her time...at least some of it.
Why Scooter Libby, but not Marion Jones?
ReplyDeleteScooter Libby shouldnt have been pardoned either.
ReplyDeleteThe girl doesnt deserve a pardon, but she didnt deserve prison either.
She had a man, he got her on that shit.
She has a new one, he urged her to come clean.
Wow.

Let's not forget Karl Rove who pull down his pants to congress and told them what they do.
