Well, Robyn, looking at it like that, you might have a point there. I'll think about it.
In the meantime, DV, check out this link on Kyokushin karate. If you can find a school in your area, try it out. Unfortunately my dojo in Brooklyn under Shihan Seji Kanamura was dissolved upon Mas Oyama's death and I never found an equivalently rigorous dojo. Maybe there's one in your area. It'll do you boy good. Promise.
Looking over the vid (I'm not sure which one is DV Jr.) there is too much jumping around. Not only does it dissipate energy, but it makes it hard to kick correctly (as you can see). The kids shoulda been trained to close in to the opponent and stay there. They need to use their arms better to block and one kid, the one with the yellow belt, was leaning forward all the time, off balance. Real, real bad form. That's why he fell. I guess he'd been taught some kinda amateur street fighting or something at an earlier time.
Check out some of these notice and translate it into how kids should fight. You won't see much jumping around, but straight going for the jugular and quickly defeating the opponent.
This book seems to square with your views. It posits a view of the New Athiests as every bit as dangerous as far right conservatives in their intolerance...
I clearly disagree, but it might be worth checking out for someone of your apparent viewpoint.
Paul, trust me. you gotta teach them kids correct from the get go.
Again, look at the kid with the yellow belt. When he kicks, his arms are all over the place in the air rather than in front of him so that he can block and/or follow up his kick with a punch. The little kid with the red belt is a bit more disciplined when it comes to that. I mean, what good are your fists gonna do way over your head in the air? Ain't no opponent up there in the air, you know?
It is really hard to unteach bad combat/martial arts habits. No hating intended.
Ok Robyn, is that kid with the yellow belt DV Jr.? Because if he is, once the red-belt kid grows bigger, given that his form is somewhat better, he'll get his ass kicked by what is currently the little red-belt kid. The child has not been taught correctly. That's all. He clearly has spunk. It is not the child's fault.
So, considering that, do you think that you are doing him a service or a disservice by talking this "Michael is a hater" stuff?
DV Jr. is in the orange belt. (The kid who wins with the body blow when the orange belt falls to the ground.)
I like Mike's spirit on this. Knowing how to fight, handling one's self, is a virtue men need. It's also a virtue that has fallen to the wayside in this era of gender blurring.
Plus, Mike knows I have an over-inflated ego. He's just keeping me on point.
"So, considering that, do you think that you are doing him a service or a disservice by talking this "Michael is a hater" stuff?"
Got it. It's about the kid.
[Pen in hand. Note to self. Self, all this has nothing at all to do with this longstanding pissing contest you've had the privilege of reading for the last year).
Ha! Look at my young cuz whoopin' dat ass! Good stuff!!
ReplyDeleteCompetitive sports is so good for kids.
No offense DV, but you ought to have the boy taught some real karate. Mas Oyama's Kyokushin.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, our kids don't use all that protective gear.
Oos.
Yeah. Aight.
ReplyDeleteI hear you Mike.
To hell with the punk shit. Why not have the kids fight with real knives, nunchucks and sharp swords?
Still betcha my boys whip your boys ass.
LOL. Nah ... just playin' with ya.
What is Mas Oyama's Kyokushin?
Sounds Japanese.
Has anyone else wondered why Mike feels compelled to identify "errors" in many of the pictures/videos DV posts?
ReplyDeleteFirst the son wasnt holding the gun properly.
Then, DV wasnt holding the golf club properly.
Now son is participating in "fake" karate.
Can we say H_A_T_E_R! It seems to have progressed from friendly jabs among men to an attempt to one-up folks.
But what do I know, maybe its just me.
Well, Robyn, looking at it like that, you might have a point there. I'll think about it.

here
All that ain't those kids' fault. They got plenty of spunk. It's the Sensei.
Personally, imho, I think you are wasting your money.
Oos.
Way to go DV Jr!
ReplyDeleteUnko Mike, a "W" is a "W". Don't hate, congratulate. Show me a youtube clip of kids DV jr's age doing that.

Absolutely correct. Nothing at all...

What? Fuck you, DV, I got a much more over-inflated ego than you could ever even dream you could have!!!
LOL!
ReplyDeleteDamn. We need an ego machine to settle this argument.
